WEDNESDAY, DEC. 30, 1953 The New Year Eve Party at Sunnydale is the only big public event scheduled for the holidays in the Bulletin. There are many private parties, sometimes two and three a day. They are keeping the young folk moving and getting ac quainted. There are a number here for the first time and are surprised to find a little commu nity so busy. Chairman Harrison Bridgeman Jr., says the Christ mas trees will be down by New, Year’s Day and that he will make a report to the people as soon as the electric bill is received. More praise was received on the beauty of the trees this year than ever. . . . .' Some people’ who were not here for all the holidays contribut ed because they said the cheerful spirit they created had already been worth the contribution they were giving and they wanted others to share it. . . . Business setting its house in order . . . Fed eral government drops 6,000 from ^payrolls. . . . Worst cold weather of the season is headed East ; f■rom the Midwest . , . Avant Electric Co., will be closed all day New Year’s Day. The Railway Express office will be closed Fri day, Saturday and Sunday . . . . North Carolina’s 1,-953 cotton crop is estimated at 453,00Q bales (500-pcmnd gross weight). Rotary Meets Thursday Tryon Rotary Club will meet Thursday at 1 p. m., at Oak Hall on account of Friday being New Year's Day. The Rev. Orville H. White will be in charge of the program. Tryon Riders At Camden Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Reynolds ,and children, Betty and Bucky, guests, Mrs. Philip Bucher and daughter, Victoria, of Grand Rap ids, Mich., have returned from the Christmas Junior Horse Show held Saturday at Camden, S. C. Betty Reynolds won fourth place in Hunting Over Fence class. Victoria won first place in Hunting Seat Class, third in Hunting Over Fence; fourth in Bareback class and second place in Championship. Following the show the exhibi tors were entertained at tea at Court Inn, operated by Mr. and Mrs. Austin Brown of Tryon. Honor Mrs. Bowen. Mrs. George C. Vance and Mrs. Carroll G. Bennett entertained at four tables of bridge Tuesday af ternoon in honor of Mrs. K. A. Bowen, who is moving soon to Gastonia, N. C. HOSPITAL NEWS Patients discharged from Sit. Luke’s Hospital were Mrs, John Webb, Master Jimmy Bradshaw and Henry Washington, nil of Tryon, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Earl (Babe) Brock of Tryon are the parents of a fcirl bdm December 29 at 11:40 a. m. Mr. and Mrs. Tollie Ross of Tryon are the parents of a girl born December 30 at 7:03 a. m.~
